1. How do I become a Compass Medical Patient?
First, find the Compass Medical office that suits your medical needs. Next, call your office and let them know you'd like to become a new patient. Your new office will send you a New Patient Package which you will need to fill out and send back.

2. Who is Compass Medical Affiliated with?
We are affiliated with Steward Health Care System.
Steward Health Care System, formed in 2010 through an acquisition of Caritas Christi Health Care, is a community-based accountable care organization and community hospital network with more than 13,000 employees serving more than one million patients annually in 85 communities.

3. Do I have to be a Compass patient to be seen in the UCC?
Any Compass patient can be seen in the UCC.  Non-Compass patients with a PPO or Medicare can be seen in the UCC. If you have an HMO you must obtain a referral from your PCP.

4. If I am not a Compass patient, can I have my laboratory work drawn here?
Unfortunately, our Laboratory is for Compass Patients only. For more information on becoming a Compass Patient, please call one of our Primary Care offices nearest you.

7. Can I still keep my Compass Medical Physician even though my healthcare benefits have changed?
Compass Medical accepts a wide range of insurance plans (listed above). It is very likely you can stay with your preferred Compass Medical Provider, however, call your Doctor’s office as soon as your benefits change to ensure your new health plan is accepted and to submit your new information.

8. Can I change locations or Physicians if necessary?
Of course. Compass Medical has over 70 Providers in multiple locations across the South Shore region and continues to expand today for further patient convenience. Because all Compass Medical offices operate on the same electronic medical record system, your transition will be smooth and hassle-free.

9. How can I see a specialist?
Compass Medical offers an extensive array of services (for a full list, click here). Some health plans allow patients the ability to self-refer for certain specialty services, such as mammograms, without an authorization from your doctor. Contact your health plan provider to see what services you can receive without a referral or call your Physicians office for further information.
