Special Interests

Dr. Ostrem’s clinical interests include the office practice of primary care and internal medicine, skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation medicine and finding ways of improving transitions between settings of care in order to assure highest quality care and safest transfers for those patients requiring a stay in the acute care hospital  and/or a rehabilitation  facility.

Dr. Ostrem earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN.  He completed his Internship of Medicine at the University of North Dakota/Merit Healthcare in Fargo, ND and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, MN. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.  From 2001-present, Dr. Ostrem has held the Academic Appointment  of Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.  He is the Chief of the Section of Geriatrics in the Department of Internal Medicine at Carney Hospital.  He is active in the American Medical Directors’ Association.
